At high altitude, there is more oxygen available. This makes it more difficult for you to breath, which is why some humans go skiing at high altitude (like in California) where the mountain air is good for breathing.

Because of this, there are cannabis-friendly ski resorts that cater to people who enjoy smoking cannabis but who also enjoy skiing. These resorts offer both indoor and outdoor ski fun!

There are several dozen such resorts around the world, and many of them are located in places like Canada, Norway, France, and Italy. Most people go on at least once a year, so it is a nice reliable source of fun.

Established in 1992, Mountain High is a small ski resort located in the foothills of Northern California. It is named for its elevation of approximately 1,000 feet.

Mountain High has a small village with restaurants, shops, and a ski hill where you can rent equipment and take the lessons at their base lodge.

The first thing visitors will notice about Mountain High is the mountain-high concentration of cannabis plants that line the property. These include large trees that have been grafted with branches from previous customers, making them extremely sturdy.

These trees provide plenty of cover for skiers as they traverse the terrain at Mountain High.

Pearl Peak Snow Mountain

Located in the western portion of California, the San Jacinto Mountains are a diverse and extensive area of mountains.

One of these areas is the Pearl Peak Snow Mountain, located in Elsinore Canyon in eastern San Diego County. This ski resort features three distinct ski areas: Endura, Endura Nitro, and Endura Xtreme. All three offer intermediate and advanced rides as well as children’s rides.

Skiing is popular at Pearl Peak Snow Mountain so there are typically plenty of people onsite on any given day.

Sierra-at-Tahoe Snow Resort

This allows newer skiers to learn how to ski in a safe environment without going down the slippery slope. They also offer different levels of skiing, making it an accessible ski resort for many.

Downsizing has become common at many resorts, making it easier to access every year. Having fewer chances to enjoy yourself can make you think about getting off the mountain, but cannabis is welcome at this resort!

Soda Springs Ski Hill

Soda Springs Ski Hill is a small ski hill located in the remote White Mountain National Forest in central California. It is served by nearby Alpine Meadows, another small ski hill with a similar layout.

Alpine Meadows is one of the premier ski resorts in California and offers several high-quality skiing experiences. It is a relatively recent addition to the mountain scene, having opened in 1999.

Because of its more recent status, Alpine Meadows does not have as much marijuana collectible card legality exposure as other dispensaries near your chair-skiing or snowboarding destination. This can be off-putting for those who are highly sensitive to drugs and alcohol, but who also want to relax at the top of their mountain session.

Fortunately, Soda Springs has been opening newer resorts closer to cannabis collectible card legality every year. In 2018 alone, it added Alpine Dolmen and Ice House Mountain Resort further south along Highway 94. These two resorts have only recently begun offering chairlifts and snowboarding, so they are still developing their pot prevalence.

Timber Creek Snow Park

Established in 2006, Wright Mountain is a ski area located in the Northern California forested mountain range. The ski resort features four distinct ski areas: Central, The Flats, North and South.

The Central Area is comprised of two loops of trails with varying degrees of snow coverage and terrain. The North Area has more snow coverage and more challenging terrain. The South Area has less snow coverage and less complexity than its northern counterpart.

Because of this, neither area receives much national attention but are highly sought after by cannabis enthusiasts looking for high THC content.

Kirkwood Mountain Resort

Located in the northern part of California just north of San Francisco, Kirkwood is a ski resort with three peaks: Kirkland, Ingram, and Pioneer. All three are typically snow-covered and offer several skiing options.

Like other large ski resorts in California, Kirkwood has a cannabis-friendly policy. All skiers are welcome to enjoy cannabis products while skiing as long as they are not using the piste and taking public transport to get to the mountain.

A few days before opening day, around midnight on Friday, October 1, several people became aware of an explosion heard near Kirkwood Mountain Resort. Upon further investigation, it was determined that an underground mining operation was digging a new tunnel towards the summit.

Mt. Rose Summit Ski Area

Mt. Rose Summit Ski Area is a private, ski-in, ski-out mountain ski area in Northern California located just minutes from downtown San Francisco.

The facility has three interconnected mountains with over 1,000 feet of vertical and features nine runs with a intermediate run for those who are not familiar with the lower skiing levels.

All of the trails are groomed seasonally so that there is a green domain for skiers to climb upon. There are also two black runs for those who prefer something more sinister to enjoy while they snowboard or snowboard.

One of the biggest reasons to visit this resort is to enjoy cannabis-friendly activities such as: hiking and mountain biking, observatory tours, and smoking hash or flower at one of the four designated cannabis areas onsite.
